Highlights

Sharjah is strengthening its position as an innovation hub in the Middle East, driven by coordinated investment initiatives, inclusive talent development, and forward-looking policy reforms.

Sharjah approved an $11.4B budget for 2025, reinforcing commitments to innovation, SMEs, and economic diversification, alongside a 361% rise in investment.  In 2025, the Seal the Deal initiative – delivered with Sheraa, SPARK, Invest in Sharjah, AUS, and the UOS – catalyzed $1.2M+ in investments across youth-led, faculty-driven, and emerging technology startups. The Business Kickstarter Package, launched by Sheraa at Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival with SPARK, Emirates NBD, and du, offered low-cost licenses from $272, with 131 new businesses launched at the event. Sheraa’s Deal Dock connected 200+ startups with investors representing $671M+ in deployable capital via 250+ targeted meetings. Sharjah Economic Development Majlis facilitates ongoing dialogue with founders and investors.

Sharjah Economic Development Department introduced the Instant Licence service, enabling businesses to obtain a commercial license within one day, supported by AI-powered trade name issuance and expanded automated services. Simplified setup procedures, faster approvals, and enhanced regulatory clarity, alongside the department’s certification for Collaborative Business Relationship Management, underscore institutional excellence. Strategies including the UAE’s National Agenda for Entrepreneurship and SMEs, outlining 29 initiatives to expand startup activity, and Sheraa’s 2030 strategy, establishing structured pathways, strengthen long-term ecosystem growth.

In 2025, Sheraa launched the Sharjah Women Impact Fellowship, a program supporting high-potential women founders through leadership development, venture-building, and access to equity-free funding, where 51% of ecosystem founders are women. Sheraa led a trade mission to China with the Sharjah Business Women Council and Ruwad, enabling supply chain partnerships and global market readiness for Sharjah-based businesses.

Continued expansion of ecosystem platforms such as the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival signals sustained momentum in convening global founders, investors, and innovators.
