Startup Genome and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation today announced a collaboration to further accelerate the impressive growth of Turin’s startup ecosystem. The organizations will work closely to support Turin’s fast-growing startup ecosystem.

“Turin’s startup ecosystem has incredible potential to spark sustained economic growth both locally and nationally,” shares Marc Penzel, Founder and President of Startup Genome. “We are proud to build on the important work that’s been done already and help accelerate Turin’s trajectory and global exposure as a fast-growing tech hub.”

The mission of Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center is to explore the world of cutting-edge innovation, invest in applied research projects and high-potential startups and accelerate the implementation of the circular economy criteria, to make Intesa Sanpaolo – the first bank in Italy and one of the most capitalized in Europe - the driving force behind a new economy that is socially and environmentally aware.

Established in Torino in 1563, Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation is one of the oldest and largest philanthropic foundations in Europe. As part of its mission to promote cultural, civic, and economic development, the Foundation is today one of the leading ecosystem developers in the Italian landscape.

The two organizations' new partnership with Startup Genome will create more opportunities for local startups to get national and international exposure.

“Collaborating with an international player such as Startup Genome represents another important step towards the recognition of Turin as a central HUB for innovation” - says Maurizio Montagnese, Chairman of Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center. “We expect that the application of a common standard for specific KPIs will help the entire community to enhance the effort we have been making to support the growth of the local ecosystem”.

“Our Foundation is on a mission to make Torino an international hub for innovators.” – says Francesco Profumo, Chairman of Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation – “This new partnership with Startup Genome is key to place Torino on the global map of startup ecosystems, in line with our ambition of attracting new investments, outstanding human capital, and entrepreneurial ventures that may settle and thrive in our region.”
