Startup Genome to Unveil GSER 2026 at VivaTech's 10th Anniversary Edition

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — May 28, 2026 — Startup Genome, in collaboration with Viva Technology, is set to unveil its flagship report in its 14th year - the 2026 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) - on June 17th at Europe’s largest startup and technology event in Paris. The GSER 2026 will provide fresh insights on the world’s leading innovation ecosystems, highlighting key trends, investment flows, and policy strategies driving entrepreneurial success.

The GSER 2026, produced by Startup Genome in partnership with the Global Entrepreneurship Network, provides a ranking of the Top 40 global startup ecosystems and Top 100 emerging ecosystems, along with regional rankings. Building on last year’s analysis, it expands its AI-Native factor to include emerging ecosystems, reflecting AI’s growing role in competitive advantage. Backed by over a decade of independent research and a global consortium spanning 65+ countries, the report offers a data-rich view of startup activity and investment trends, equipping policymakers, ecosystem leaders, and founders with actionable strategies to drive economic growth.

The full findings, including rankings and deeper insights, will be officially unveiled on June 17 at VivaTech 2026, where Stephan Kuester, Managing Partner at Startup Genome, will share key findings and discuss the state of the global startup economy with leading ecosystem builders and policymakers.

The partnership with VivaTech is especially resonant in the context of Paris itself. Over the past decade, Paris has undergone one of the most consequential transformations in the global startup landscape. The city now ranks #13 globally in the GSER 2026, up from #18 in 2023, with Ecosystem Value nearly doubling from $85 billion to $169 billion in four years and a unicorn count that has grown from 14 to 38. AI-Native startups have attracted nearly $6 billion in funding between 2023 and 2025, representing 33% of all tech investment in the ecosystem.
