Notable 2025 funding includes $863 million secured by fusion energy company Commonwealth Fusion Systems and $230 million raised by quantum computing firm QuEra Computing, highlighting sustained investor interest in Deep Tech innovation. MassVentures allocated $4.5 million through its START program to 26 Deep Tech startups, supporting the transition from federally-funded research to early-stage commercialization.
In May 2025, Boston-based Inversion Space completed a controlled re-entry flight on SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission, following a $71 million Air Force contract and securing a commercial FAA re-entry license. Sabrina Mansur, executive director of the Massachusetts AI Hub, noted that the $100 million initiative is designed to catalyze collaboration across industry, academia, and government, while providing AI entrepreneurs with access to adjacent sectors such as Robotics, clean energy, and Biotechnology.
