Startup Genome undertook an analysis of accelerators funded by LaunchVic, the startup support agency of the State of Victoria. Our analysis demonstrated that accelerators had measurable positive impact on the supported startups, helping LaunchVic to secure ongoing public funding for its programs.

Innovation and entrepreneurship are core drivers of economic growth and prosperity. Policymakers globally should ensure they support this by understanding their unique nature of startups, using evidence-based policies, and avoiding unintended barriers that could stifle startups’ growth and development.
Chris is Head of Research at Startup Genome. He was formerly head of new technology and startup research at Nesta, the Innovation foundation, and before that worked in university technology transfer and enterprise strategy. Chris has advisory roles with the U.K.’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for Entrepreneurship, the U.K. Intellectual Property Office and the ScaleUp Institute. He is a Startup Europe Ambassador; a Policy Fellow at the Centre for Science and Policy, University of Cambridge; and a Senior Fellow at the Global Entrepreneurship Network. Chris also consults as a Senior Entrepreneurship Strategy Specialist at The World Bank.
