Communications Intern

Startup Genome is looking for a detail-oriented, efficient, and driven candidate for the role of Communications Intern. The candidate will be a part of Startup Genome’s Content, PR, and Events teams, supporting production and launch of the Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2026, the world’s most comprehensive and widely-cited research on startup ecosystems. As a Communications Intern, you’ll contribute directly to this flagship publication, giving you the opportunity to produce visible, high-impact work that reaches governments, media, and innovation leaders worldwide.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Update report content with data-driven elements that showcase the strength of startup ecosystems around the world
  • Assist in building visual storytelling tools, such as slide decks and other media, helping transform complex data into clear, engaging narratives
  • Contribute to the development of digital assets, including charts, graphics, and other visual elements
  • Support the creation of media-ready content, including assembling press assets and contributing to PR materials
  • Research logistics for our launch event to help the team plan smooth and effective on-the-ground engagements
  • Work cross-functionally with the content, PR, Events, Data Science,  and senior management teams to support additional tasks as needed
  • Maintain quality control standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings

REQUIREMENTS

  • An internship must be a compulsory part of your curriculum (Pflichtpraktikum)
  • Enrolled student (immatrikuliert) in Communications, Business Studies, Data Science, or related field preferred
  • Great analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Desire to learn from a team of global startup ecosystem experts
  • Excellent team player
  • Native-level written and verbal communication skills in English
  • High proficiency in Google Workspace
  • Experience with data storytelling and visualization tools preferred

QUICK FACTS

  • Position: Communications Intern
  • Location: Remote, with preference for Berlin, Germany
  • Duration: 3-month mandatory internship (Pflichtpraktikum) from April 2026 - June 2026 (40 hours/week). Working hours could vary and could be flexible depending on the candidate’s university schedule.
    Monthly stipend of €500 including benefits like Deutschlandticket, Urban Sports (gym membership).
